Who doesn’t love GUAC?! While on it’s own an already healthy dish, we couldn’t resist taking it up a notch and adding another superfood to it, broccoli.

Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable with a body of research that supports its medicinal properties making it a highly regarded functional food. It along with it’s other family members; cabbage, brussel sprouts, bok choy and kale contain the compound indole-3-carbinol, which our bodies metabolise upon digestion into diindolylmethane (DIM). DIM supports hormone balance by supporting the liver metabolise and efficiently excrete excess oestrogen, lowering the risk of oestrogen dominance, a common hormonal imbalance in women.  In addition, DIM has shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells making it a wonderful anti-cancer food

Broccoli is rich in antioxidants such as beta-carotene and Vitamin C which help repair the skin and boost the immune system. To top it off, it has a great deal of fibre which aides healthy bowel movements, a necessity in maintaining hormonal harmony.

Take the superfood qualities of broccoli and the essential fatty acids in avocado and you have yourself a hormone balancing superfood gaucamole!
